| When/Where will soccer sign ups be? |
|
Information about registration can be found on our Registration page. NOTE: 1) Players interested in trying out for a Travel team should
NOT register during this time but should attend as many travel team
tryouts as possible. |
| What is the cost of registration? |
|
The cost is $85 for one child, $145 for two children, and $205 for a family with three or more players registered. All registration fees are spent entirely on the children's soccer programs.
Harleysville Soccer has no paid employees and is run solely by volunteers
within the club. |
| Where do I send my registration payment? |
| Mail your payment (along with a copy of your registration confirmation) to: Harleysville Soccer, P.O. Box 127, Harleysville, PA 19438. |
| Where do I send the copy of my childs birth certificate? |
| Mail a copy of the birth certificate (along with a copy of
your registration confirmation) to: Harleysville Soccer, P.O. Box 127, Harleysville,
PA 19438.
Copies of birth certificates will be shredded by us after we verify the
information. |
| What are the benefits to registering online? |
|
Online registration helps you to avoid waiting in line to sign up your
child. It's available 24/7 to fit your busy schedule and is safe, secure
(all information is also kept confidential), and allows you to pay by
VISA, MasterCard or personal check. It is also available to both new &
returning players. Check our Registration
page for more details. |
| Why do you need my e-mail address? |
|
Our club uses e-mail to quickly reach many of our players' families with important information about their children's soccer program, including changes to schedules. If you decide not to include your e-mail address when registering, you
may miss important updates from the club or not receive them in a timely
manner. |
| I'm not sure my online registration went through. How can I find out? |
|
Please contact Chris Ryan,
(267) 640-6015. |
| What happens if I miss registration? Will it be too late to sign up? |
|
Online registration for the Intramural and Rec Summer leagues (U6 - U16)will remain open through 4/15. After this date, a $15 late fee (per individual registration) will be assessed until final registration closure on 5/31. Online registration for the Intercommunity Fall league (U16 & U19) will remain open through 6/15. After this date, a $15 late fee (per individual registration) will be assessed until final registration closure on 6/30. Please contact the Intramural
Program Director to inquire about registration availability. |
| My child is trying out for a travel team. Should I register her now? |
|
Do NOT register your child until she is selected for a travel team and her team is formed. The team's coach will then give you instructions on how to register your child and let you know what fees are due. Players interested in being selected into the Travel Program should attend
as many of the tryout sessions as possible to increase their chances of
making the program. For more information about tryouts and the program,
visit our Travel Program page. |
| What happens if my child doesn't make a travel team? |
| Because the travel program is very competitive and only
a limited number of player slots are available each year, some players,
unfortunately, will not be selected. This does not mean your child didn't
play well, but that he may need more experience. If your child isn't accepted onto a travel team, we encourage you to register him in our Intramural Program, a fun, exciting and competitive program which will allow your child to continue to develop her soccer skills. Slots will be reserved in the Intramural Program for applicants not selected for travel teams. Please contact the Intramural Program Director for more information. Back toTop |
| My child wants to be on a friend's team, or on a certain coach's team. Who do I let know? |
| We do not honor requests to pair individual players together,
or to put a player on a desired coach's team (with the exception of a coach's
child, who will automatically be assigned to that team). Club personnel
form each team based on player age, gender and skill level so that teams
will be well balanced against each other. We believe that this also benefits
our players by giving them more opportunities to meet new friends and to
learn from a variety of coaches. Back toTop |
| My child needs to carpool with a neighbor. How can I get them on the same team? |
| We do not honor requests to assign players to the same team
because of carpooling. Parents are responsible for making these arrangements.
Please note, however, that our playing fields are located close to each
other so that getting players from different teams to their practice fields
should not be difficult. Additionally, our coaches remain with the children
until each is picked up by his parent or guardian. Back toTop |
| How do I know what league to register for? |
| Our registration system will automatically assign your child
to his/her respective league based on age and gender. For more information,
check our Intramural page. |
| I need to switch the nights of play I signed my child up for. How do I do this? |
|
Only players in the U-8 Coed League may request changing nights of play.
Requests must be made to the Intramural
Program Director no later than 5/31. |
| I need to cancel my child's registration. How do I do this and do I get a refund? |
| Requests to withdraw must be made to the Intramural
Program Director. A full refund will be given for requests made by 5/31.
A partial refund (registration paid less a uniform charge and any late fees)
will be given for any requests made up to 6/30. No refunds will be given
for requests made after 6/30.
Refunds will be processed and mailed within 3-4 weeks of the request. |
| My child is trying out for travel soccer. Are you sure I don't need to register at this time? I don't want to pay a late fee. |
| You do not need to register your child at this time since
he is trying out for the travel program. Intramural only players, however,
must register before May 30th to avoid a late fee.
If your child is selected for a travel team, you will pay the registration fee (applies to both travel & intramural programs) plus costs associated with playing travel ball (see travel FAQs for travel costs). If your child is not selected to a team or decides he doesn't want to
play travel, he may register for the intramural program with no late charge
assessed. Contact the Intramural
Program Director before June 15th. You will then be required to pay
the registration fee. |
| When does the (intramural) season start? |
|
It depends on the league in which your child is registered. For more
information, check our Intramural page. Your
child's coach will let you know a week or two before the season when &
where the first scheduled session will be held. |
| What time do (intramural) practices/games start? |
|
It depends on the league in which your child is registered. For more
information, check our Intramural page.
Your child's coach will let you know a week or two before the season when
& where the first scheduled session will be held. Most sessions are comprised of both instruction time (training) and a
game (scrimmage). It is extremely important that parents have their children
on the field and ready by the start time. Delays in starting the session
reduce the amount of time available to our coaches to instruct the children
and also reduce the amount of time the kids get to scrimmage. In some
leagues, it may also result in forfeiture of a game. The club has given coaches authority to not start players in scrimmage
(or to reduce their playing time) if they miss sessions, frequently show
up late or are disruptive. Please let the coach know beforehand if your child will be late or absent from a session |
| Where will my childs team meet to play? |
| It depends on the league in which your child is registered.
For more information, check our Intramural
page. Your child's coach will let you know a week or two before the season
when & where the first scheduled session will be held. Back toTop |
| When will we know what team my kid's assigned to? I haven't heard from anyone? |
|
It depends on the league in which your child is registered. For more
information, check our "Intramural"
page. Your child's coach will let you know at least a week or two before
the season when & where the first scheduled session will be held.
Each player's parents will receive a phone call and/or e-mail from his
coach letting them know what team he's assigned to, the schedule &
location for training/games and what equipment to bring. |
| What equipment do I need to buy |
|
Players are required to wear shin guards and to bring an appropriately sized soccer ball and cold drink to each practice. Cleats are not required. Your child's coach will provide you with more details before the first session. Equipment can be purchased at most sporting goods stores, including our club sponsors: Soccer Post (Montgomeryville) and Kick 'n Wear (Lansdale). We recommend parents not spend too much on equipment (comfort is more
important!) Kids quickly outgrow shin guards and cleats and often lose
soccer balls (please have your child write his name on the ball). For
players under 8 years old, sneakers are just fine. |
| I have a problem with my son's coach. Who can I talk to about this? |
| We always recommend first talking to the coach himself (but
please not during the practice, scrimmage or after-game wrap-up). Coaches
want to know your concerns before they become problems. Please just ask
the coach when a good time to talk to him will be.
All our coaches volunteer their time and energy to helping make you child's
soccer experience extremely positive. However, we understand disagreements
and misunderstandings sometimes arise. While coaches have a great deal
of flexibility in implementing their practices, they are also bound by
the club's policies and rules. |
| How do I volunteer to coach? |
| Please indicate on your child's registration that you want
to coach. We'll contact you once registration closes to let you know what's
involved and to offer you FREE in-house youth coaching clinics to get you
ready. Back to Top |
| Every coach and assistant coach must complete a Risk Management
Application before the season begins.Check the Coaches

| My child talked me into helping coach his team. Should I be scared? |
| We're always looking for new coaches, even those who've never
played soccer or coached youth sports before. We'll make this a great experience
for you and your child, one you'll both remember forever.
We'll provide you and the other coaches with the practical training you'll
need so that you feel comfortable stepping onto the field and running
some great practices. Additionally, you'll be paired with another coach
for your team. We welcome you aboard and believe you'll find your coaching
experience very positive. |
| I don't want to coach. How else can I help out? |
|
In addition to coaches, we're always looking for volunteers to serve as field helpers, (lining, relining, setup & breakdown of goals), equipment helpers (distribute equipment & uniforms) and helpers for our intramural festival, Soccer Day. Indicate on your child's registration that you want to help in one of these ways. We'll contact you once registration closes to let you know what's involved and when we need help. Even volunteering just a couple of hours before, during or right after the season is a tremendous help. Coaches may also occasionally ask players' parents to help out (usually as a second set of eyes or extra set of hands) during a practice or scrimmage. The club will not be seeking team parents during the registration this
year but will, instead, have each team's coaches seek team parent volunteers
from among their players' parents |
| I would like to coach with a friend. How do I get this done? |
| While we can't guarantee it in advance, we try our best to
meet requests from our coaches to be "paired up". Please send
your request to the Intramural
Program Director no later than 5/15. Back to Top |
| What is Soccer Day? |
| Soccer Day is the culminating event of the Intramural Program's
season. Scheduled for Saturday, September 6th (U6 & U8 players) and
for Saturday, September 13th (U10, U12 & U16), over 1150 players on
120 teams will showcase their soccer talents while competing for fun. Check
our Soccer Day page for more details Back to Top |
| How do I sponsor a team? |
| Sponsoring a team is an ideal and cost-effective way for
you to advertise your business and support the youth of our community. Interested
individuals and families may also sponsor a team. You can sponsor a team
for $175 (two teams for only $300). Check our Sponsors
page for more details. Back to Top |
