Injury Prevention Seminar

 

Length:  1 hour

 

Specially designed for all sports coaches, this seminar presents much needed information on the physiology of young athletes and sports injuries they incur.  Presented by Frank Ciuba, the presentation will explain the role of proper conditioning and nutrition in preventing common sports injuries.  A coaches’ question & answer period follows the presentation.

 

Frank Ciuba is owner of MaxLife Health Center and H/S Therapy Associates Physical Therapy and holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Master of Science.  He is also a fellow Harleysville Soccer coach.

 

This course is open to novice & experienced coaches who want a better understanding of injury prevention.

Laws of the Game Seminar

Length:  1 ½ hours

 

Specially designed with intramural & rec coaches in mind, this seminar deals with the laws of the game.  Presented by an expert PIAA game official, the presentation will provide an overview of each law and a concentration on Law 11 (Offside) and Law 12 (Fouls & Misconducts).  A discussion of US Youth Soccer’s modified rules of the game (by age group) will also be presented.  A coaches’ question & answer period follows the presentation.

 

This course is open to novice & experienced coaches who want a better understanding of the game.  Coaches will receive the latest Laws of the Game booklet.

Intramural Coaching Certification

Youth Modules - Level I and II
Length:  Approx. 4 hours (1 ½ hours in classroom; 2 ½ hours on field)
No formal testing
Curriculum Emphasis of the Youth Modules:

  • Course is offered by each state association
  • Content of youth modules is same as the US Soccer Youth License Course and is age specific
  • Level I—U6 (4 & 5 year olds); Level II—U8 (6 & 7 yr olds) & U10 (8 & 9 yr olds)
  • Focus of youth modules is the parent coach who has little or no experience in the game of soccer
  • Coaches are taught about the characteristics of each age group and receive practical instruction for teaching their players.  Course material includes a training activities DVD.

Youth Module, Level I (U6 Coaches):  Note New Date: Sat. 6/14, 10 am – 2 pm; Indian Valley Middle    School soccer fields

 

Youth Module, Level II (U8 & U10 Coaches):  Sat. 6/7, 10 am – 2 pm; Indian Valley     Middle School soccer fields

·        Coaching clinics are offered by the club at no charge to volunteers coaching for Harleysville Soccer during the current season.  Other club coaches who wish to attend must prepay the EPYSA registration fee.  In order to attend any clinic, a Coaching Course Registration Form must be completed and returned to:  Harleysville Soccer, c/o Chris Ryan, P.O. Box 127, Harleysville, PA  19438. Interested coaches should contact Chris Ryan at (267) 640-6015 to guarantee a slot is available.


Goalkeeping Diploma

 

NSCAA State Goalkeeping Diploma (Level 1) – for interested Intramural, Rec & Travel Coaches

Length:  6 hours
No formal testing
Curriculum Emphasis:

  • To empower the coach with knowledge and practice methods that will enable the coach to evaluate a goalkeeper in game situations and then design an appropriate practice program
  • Course includes lecture and field sessions

Coaches must attend all dates & times within the course

 

Sat. 6/14, 9 am – 3 pm; HillTop Farms, Limerick Township

 

·        The State Goalkeeping Diploma is offered by the NSCAA.  A $35 registration fee applies.  Volunteers coaching for Harleysville Soccer during the current season may request reimbursement of the NSCAA registration fee upon successful completion of the course and coaching service during the current season.  In order to attend the course, an Application must be completed and returned to:  Steve Roper, UK Elite Soccer, 19 Bala Avenue, Suite 101, Bala Cynwyd, PA  19004.  Please do not mail the application to either NSCAA or Harleysville Soccer.  Interested coaches should first contact Steve Roper (610) 747-0838, ext. 206 to guarantee a slot is available.  Slots will only be held for coaches submitting a fully paid application in time.
